Rough Draft

When choosing a college campus, one aspect that is often overlooked is the food choices available on campus. The University of Central Florida is an area with food options for everybody including Chinese, Mexican, Mediterranean, sandwiches and fast food. We are lucky enough to have a sit down restaurant in the main hub of campus, which is Wackadoo’s. Located in the student union, Wackadoo’s, is a restaurant run by the University’s alumni and current students. They serve typical American style cuisine with a diverse menu including burgers, wings, sandwiches, salads and soups. Whenever I have walked through the student union and looked inside it always appears packed, so I decided to try it out one day.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is really casual, more like a sports bar then a place to get lunch or dinner. There is evidence that Wackadoo’s is really a place for students and alumni because UCF memorabilia is everywhere! There are pictures of the university on almost every wall and the ceiling is decorated with posters of the Knights and sports jerseys from football and basketball players. On the right side of the eatery, there is a game room with about ten different video games and multiple pool tables to play on. I rate the atmosphere of Wackadoo’s five out of five chicken wings, because the atmosphere is really laid back and relaxed. They also invite you to stay longer to play some of the video games or pool.

The food quality at Wackadoo’s is pretty average. The first time I went there I got Broccoli and Cheese Soup which came with plain saltine crackers, which was pretty good but about the same quality you could get at Panera Bread. My friend Ryan who accompanied me ordered a Cuban sandwich which tasted how a Cuban should taste and contained the proper meats on it. The second time I went out to eat at Wackadoo’s I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. The pork was a bit plain but it was still tasty. I rate the food quality and taste four out of five chicken wings, the food was good but there was nothing special about it to make me feel like I found a real winner.

When I found out that there was a sit down restaurant at the University of Central Florida, I figured there would be a lot of students working there. When I arrived I discovered my assumption was correct, but not just the servers were students, everybody working there was. I don’t have a problem with students working with food, but I feel as if they are sometimes unreliable or slow in a service situation. When I went out to eat with my friend Ryan our waitress showed up quite promptly to take our drink order, but to order food took at least ten minutes. Then once our food was ordered it took at least twenty minutes to receive our lunch which was only soup and a sandwich. When it came time to pay our bill, our waitress never came back to take our checks which led to another fifteen minute wait. I would rate the service of Wackadoo’s a two out of five chicken wings because of the length of time I had to wait, but our waitress was still polite each time she visited our table.

I feel that whenever I go out to eat that the most important aspect for me of whether I’ll return is if the food I paid for was worth the price I paid for it. There are many places out there that will charge ridiculous prices for food that was crappy, but Wackadoo’s isn’t one of them. When I ordered my broccoli and cheese soup, it only cost five dollars in total including tip. This is a pretty good deal for a sit down restaurant. My friend Ryan got a special which was only seven dollars in total for his Cuban sandwich. Also, during tailgating they offer special deals on their Fat Ass Burger and pulled pork for 3.99. This is a great marketing tool to get the hungry students tailgating into the eatery for a good burger (and beer if they are over twenty one). I rate the prices of Wackadoo’s five out of five chicken wings, they offer good deals during tailgating and the normal menu prices aren’t that expensive for a student or professor’s budget.

Overall I would rate Wackadoo’s four out of five chicken wings. The restaurant’s atmosphere is suitable and the prices are right for a college campus but, they still have some work to do in regards to service. Also, the quality of the food could be raised in order to bring in more business that could be going to local eateries. Most students don’t have the opportunity if they don’t have a car to go off campus to eat, so I think that having Wackadoo’s in a central location in the student union is good for students who want to sit down to eat. There are many restaurants close by to the University of Central Florida’s campus, but having a place so close for students to will bring in the crowds for a long time.

Template B: Criteria

The four important criteria based off my audience analysis that I’m going to use for my restaurant review are: the atmosphere of the restaurant, the food quality/taste, service, and the value. I believe all four of these qualities are important in any place you are willing to eat at.
My audience will want to know that where they are eating is welcoming, for a casual full service dining restaurant. You wouldn’t want to eat in a place with tablecloths and wine in a campus eatery serving wings and burgers. Also, pride in the University of Central Florida should be apparent in a restaurant in the area.
When you’re eating at a restaurant one of the main factors of whether you will return or not, is the taste of the food. My mother worked at a restaurant in the past, and sometimes it’s a pain to go out to eat with her only because if the food is messed up enough to not pass her standards she will never go back again. Unfortunately this list has grown so big; it’s a stretch finding at least one eatery we both enjoy. As you can see in the case of my mother, the taste of the food can either make or break your trip back.
The service of a restaurant’s employees provides you are another important factor in deciding to go out to eat. If the service is known as slow and unreliable, it will lead you against choosing that eatery. In a college restaurant it’s nice to know that the students will be prompt and responsible while working.
Finally, one of the most important factors of going out to eat at all and especially is one of the deciding factors on what restaurant you choose is the value.

Template A: Audience Analysis

Topic: Review of one of UCF’s full service restaurants Wackadoo’s

The audience for my review of Wackadoo’s would be students that go to the University of Central Florida and don’t want to only eat fast food, alumni of the university that are coming back, professors that need a bite to eat between teaching, family members that are here for family weekend or visiting their student on campus and people who enjoy a good food of all kinds in general. Also, the menu at Wackadoo’s is mainly burgers, wings and sandwiches, so the diners at this restaurant don’t want anything fancy, just a good “American” style meal.

It’s important to the audience that they’re getting the most out of their meal for the money they’re paying. Most of the people that will be eating at this restaurant are middle class Americans. They want to read about if the food is good enough to take the time to stop by and eat there or if they should go to one of the cheaper and faster restaurants on campus. They will have to have good food that doesn’t cost a fortune and good service. The people who are eating here and would read my review have feelings on all aspects of social issues. No matter whether you are republican or democrat, it doesn’t affect whether you like food or not.

The friends of my audience will also be interested in my review of Wackadoo’s. A lot of the students that go to the University of Central Florida will probably have friends that also go to the university or have their friends come visit them on campus. Last year when my friend was attending UCF and I came to visit he didn’t have a car, so we were only limited to restaurants that were nearby or on campus. Also, the friendly-casual environment of the eatery will invite students to come and have a good time by playing on the pool tables or on the video games that are located on the right side of the restaurant. If they were having an event held at Wackadoo’s or if students that go to UCF didn’t know what the restaurant is it could hurt them socially. Students will need to walk through the student union at least once or twice a week to make sure they are up to date on any events or specials that are going on at Wackadoo’s.

The benefits of reading my review would be that my audience wants to know if it’s worth their time and money to go out to eat at Wackadoo’s. There are so many restaurants on the University of Central Florida campus and all around East Orlando, what would take them to come to eat at Wackadoo’s instead. I will need to show people that the food and the atmosphere are friendly, and that people should think about staying on campus to eat other then leaving to one of the many local eateries.

Plagarism Workshop

Alexis+ Boys in the back corner

1. It would be a 0 because they are just researching together but they are writing completely different papers and are bound to have some similar facts. It could turn into plagiarism by the students using each others answers to write their paper.

2. It is a 0 because you're only using the same information to write each paper but you're not copying the whole paper word for word.

3. It would be a 2 because it has the potential to be copying the other person's answer but you would just be seeing how the assignment was supposed to turn out.

4. Would be a 5 because the student copied the other person's answer, even though he changed some of the answers around. It wasn't the student's own work which is cheating.
